Vancouver Public Schools Superintendent Steve Webb will host the first patron tour of the 2017- 2018 school year on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017. The tour will provide an in-depth look at Hudson’s Bay High School and Harney Elementary School.

At Hudson’s Bay, visitors will tour horticulture and building-construction classes. They also will explore classrooms where every student is using a take-home iPad to expand his or her learning. In the career and learning centers, visitors will see how staff members support academic success and help students plan for their futures.

Harney will show visitors its Spanish Immersion Program classrooms; outdoor learning spaces, which accommodate outside instruction time and increase students’ access to nature; and the school’s Family-Community Resource Center, where families can receive support and be involved with their children’s schools.

The free tour will begin and end at the Bates Center for Educational Leadership, 2921 Falk Rd. The tour starts at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. After visiting Hudson’s Bay and Harney, guests have the option of enjoying a student musical performance and delicious lunch prepared by culinary arts students. Lunch is available for $5 per person.

Everyone is welcome, but space is limited. Sign up online, or contact coordinator Sue Knable via email or at 360-313-4720.
